About MK Renewable Energy
Since signing the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on June 12, 1992, Malaysia has pledged to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions relative to GDP by up to 45% by 2030. The Malaysian Government also aims for net zero emissions by 2050 through the adoption of clean, sustainable, and renewable energy.
To achieve these targets, Malaysia plans to increase its renewable energy share to 70% of total generation capacity by 2050, expanding from 6 to 14 GW.
This will necessitate around 10 GW of new capacity to meet rising demand, which includes replacing ageing plants and ensuring system reliability.
As intermediaries dedicated on strengthening Malaysia’s green initiatives, MK Renewable Energy is keen to promote RE in particular with Masdar as they hold imperative ties that help Malaysia navigate global uncertainties and seize opportunities within the pursuit of a greener future, directly supporting the nation’s National Energy Transition Roadmap.
